This internship is for current students or recent graduates and provides a hands-on opportunity for individuals interested in learning how a competitive, grassroots political campaign operates.&nbsp; Interns will support voter engagement and campaign operations while gaining exposure to field organizing, events, communications, and day-to-day campaign work. Interns will work closely with staff and volunteers. Our commitment to civil rights must translate into real-life action. As an Assemblymember, I will work to combat all forms of discrimination, including antisemitism, Islamaphobia, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and prejudice against the LGBTQ+ community. I will also continue to protect the rights of immigrants and refugees, oppose the dehumanizing tactics of ICE, and organize against the harmful impacts of federal anti-immigration policies.I am absolutely committed to combating the rising tide of hatred and prejudice across our district and state. New York must be a safe, welcoming place for all communities, and that means taking a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of bigotry. I will be an unwavering opponent of antisemitism and Islamophobia, which threaten our communities.We need comprehensive voting rights reform to ensure that every eligible citizen can easily cast a ballot. I will also advocate for expanding access to justice by securing increased funding for legal aid services, ensuring that low-income New Yorkers have a meaningful Right to Counsel in civil matters beyond just eviction.My commitment to civil rights is at the center of every policy decision I make – from ensuring fair and dignified housing to demanding equitable funding for our public schools. I will relentlessly push for a New York that is truly inclusive, where justice prevails, and where every community can thrive without fear of discrimination or hate.

I will defend immigrants, LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, disabled residents and other minority communities as they face threats from President Trump.&nbsp;

Civil Rights

As an activist and an organizer, I’ve delivered real wins for our students.&nbsp;I am a proud co-founder of the Literacy Academy Collective, which has opened the first two free, district public schools in New York City for students with dyslexia. To put this in perspective, there are only four public schools that serve dyslexic students nationwide. This monumental effort brings evidence-based literacy intervention to the public school students who need it most. I also successfully pushed for the opening of the 75 Morton middle and District 75 school in Greenwich Village.My top legislative priority is equitable funding for all students. I will fight to make sure we deliver education dollars where student need is greatest. To accomplish this, I support reforming NYS’s Foundation Aid formula to reflect today’s real costs and provide more funding to districts that serve high needs students, like NYC Public Schools.This commitment includes reforming the formula to update weights for English Language Learners (ELLs), students with disabilities, students in temporary housing, and those in the foster care system. The current funding gap is at a crisis level and disproportionately impacts these groups.As an advocate for students with disabilities, I know that policy is only as good as its implementation. I will use the power of state funding—which covers 36% of the NYCPS budget—to support a shift to science-backed curricula, teacher training, and ongoing professional development. I support continued funding of the Path Forward to ensure that higher education programs and licensing explicitly include structured literacy instruction and knowledge. I also support increased state investment to recruit, certify, and retain bilingual educators and support staff to improve outcomes for our multilingual learners.All New Yorkers deserve access to have a high quality and affordable education. This means supporting policy changes like allowing older, late-arriving newcomers to attend high school for a minimum of four years and allowing those with interrupted formal education to remain in school until age 23. Additionally, because the state funds a significant portion of SUNY (40%) and CUNY (60%), I will leverage our influence in Albany to support these vital institutions and ensure New York's public higher education system continues to provide high quality, cost-effective programs for our community.

I will fight to strengthen our public schools by expanding opportunity, accessibility, and support for every student—especially those with disabilities and those growing up in poverty. I will also work to ensure that LGBTQ+ students and students of every race, religion, and background have equal access to a safe, welcoming, and high-quality public education. And I know how important this work is because I’ve been doing it in our community for more than a decade.&nbsp;

Education

I have a deep and proven commitment to making our transportation system safer, more accessible, and more equitable. My experience as the Chair of the Traffic and Transportation Committee on Manhattan Community Board 2 gives me the detailed knowledge to deliver real results in Albany. I have already led the community’s input on critical local projects, including drafting detailed recommendations to significantly improve the redesigns of Canal Street and West Street/9A. My focus is on leveraging the power of state legislation to support both mass transit and safe streets for all users in our district.A top priority is increasing street safety, especially for the most vulnerable in our community: older adults, people with disabilities, and children traveling to and from school. I support granting New York City broader authority for automated enforcement, which includes cameras for speeding, blocked crosswalks, and blocked bus/bike lanes, provided it is paired with strong legal, equity, and privacy protections. I believe this is a crucial step to move away from uneven manual enforcement and ensure systematic traffic law compliance. Furthermore, I will continue to advocate at the city level to expand the West Village Neighborhood Slow Zone and leverage the designation of Hudson Square, SoHo, and Tribeca as Senior Pedestrian Zones to prioritize funding for street safety improvements like extended crossing times, curb extensions, and traffic calming devices.Addressing the challenges posed by micromobility, I support state legislation that would require registration for Class 3 e-bikes and shift liability for non-compliance and accidents from workers to the delivery apps that employ them. This is about creating a safer environment for everyone while ensuring that the essential workers who keep our city moving are not unfairly burdened. Locally, I will advocate for targeted infrastructure repairs, like installing granite strip bicycle lanes and fixing Belgium blocks on streets like Morton and Clarkson, to reduce sidewalk riding and improve overall safety.Finally, I am a strong supporter of Congestion Pricing, but I will be a relentless fighter to ensure its implementation is fair and its revenue is properly invested. I will actively oppose any changes that would suspend the program once operating, create broad geographic or class-based exemptions, divert revenues away from transit, or turn the fee into a flat, regressive toll. Crucially, I support automatic discounts or waivers for low-income New Yorkers who already qualify for programs like Fair Fares or SNAP, and full exemptions for people with disabilities to ensure their access to healthcare. All revenue generated must be required to fund immediate, visible improvements in low-income neighborhoods, such as faster buses, more frequent service, and ADA upgrades.

I will fight for MTA funding, street safety and pedestrian accessibility.

Constituent Services

Build Housing. I will fight for both affordability and availability by tackling our housing supply crisis head-on. I will support new housing, prioritize 100% affordable housing on government-owned land and focus on building coalitions statewide.I support the following statewide zoning reforms to increase housing production and permit:<ol><li>Transit-oriented development near rail and bus hubs – with minimum density or unit count, mid-rise apartments and mixed-use as of right within ½ mile of transit stations.</li><li>Multifamily housing statewide permitting to include duplexes, triplexes and 4-6 unit multi-family buildings statewide.</li><li>Additional density bonuses for affordable housing coupled with state funding.&nbsp;</li><li>Basement apartments combined with safety upgrades.</li><li>Accessory Dwelling Units combined with funds for sewer and stormwater infrastructure that will address flooding from increased lot coverage and storm surge flooding.</li></ol>I have a strong track record of success on housing during my 14 years on Manhattan Community Board 2, including as Chair. My community wins include achieving 100% affordable housing at 388 Hudson Street. I supported the "win-win solution" that saved Elizabeth Street Garden while supporting the construction of over 620 affordable units nearby.In addition, I want to expand and develop statewide programs to:<ol><li>Stop Displacement. Our neighbors deserve better. In Albany, I will support a comprehensive set of anti-displacement tools, defend our most vulnerable residents and keep people in their homes. Key priorities include expanding and improving the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE) with annual inflation indexes and auto-enrollment. Furthermore, I will advocate for a Statewide Right to Counsel, expanding the Housing Access Voucher Program (HAVP) pilot, strengthening Good Cause Eviction protections to ensure predictable rents and passing Net Loss Provision legislation that would require replacement of rent-stabilized units demolished, converted, or lost through redevelopment.</li><li>Fund Social Housing. In the 1950s, the Mitchell-Lama program created over 130,000 units of social housing in New York City, plus many more across New York State. However, as 35,000 units have been privatized, and demand for housing has only grown in New York City, we must renew our commitment to social housing. In the Assembly, I will fight to expand permanently affordable, resident-controlled housing, and increase oversight in existing buildings.&nbsp;</li><li>Create and fund a dedicated Deeply Affordable Housing Program in New York State. New Yorkers are experiencing a&nbsp;crisis of deep affordability, where over half of all rent-burdened households earn under 30% Area Median Income (AMI). This program would commit at least 25-40% of units in funded projects to households below 30% AMI for 50-99 years, with funding potentially coming from increases to high-end real estate transfer taxes, a portion of cannabis tax revenue, and Deeply Affordable Housing Bonds.</li></ol>

We are in the midst of a housing crisis. Prices are skyrocketing, demand continues to grow and supply isn’t keeping pace. I will fight for more housing with a strong focus on affordability, while also ensuring landlords properly maintain their buildings and tenants' rights are protected.
